Yesterday we started our 6 week topic mini series with Putney High School staff and students learning British Sign Language (BSL) Basics. The session was led by Anthony and covered an introduction to BSL and general deaf awareness; BSL alphabet/fingerspelling, introductory questions and phrases, lip-reading and fingerspelling activities.
All staff and students did super well as they had no prior knowledge and Kate Molan, Director of Sixth Form said “I thought that went really well, we really enjoyed, and I certainly got a lot from it. “

Family; An introduction to correct hand-shapes, facial expressions and BSL grammar, basic conversational topics, family relations, describing a person including appearance, describing where people live, related short phrases.
