Deaf Awareness and Inclusion in the Workplace
Led by Anthony Sinclair
1. Understanding Deafness and basic BSL introduction ;
Learn basic concepts of deafness and hearing loss, common misconceptions and stereotypes, how it can affect communication in the workplace. We will cover simple greetings and phrases relevant to a workplace or professional setting as well as, key vocabulary for meetings, introductions, and daily interactions.
2. Inclusive Communication Strategies and practical workplace scenarios ;
Learn how to communicate effectively with deaf colleagues or clients, tips for meetings, emails, and phone/video calls and the importance of visual cues, clear speech, and patience.
3. Promoting an Inclusive Culture ;
Look at why inclusion matters for team morale and performance, encouraging apprentices to be proactive allies and resources for continued learning in BSL and deaf awareness.
